Baghdad: Government spokesman Haider al-Aboudi affirmed that the issue of restricting weapons to the state has spared Iraq serious repercussions. Speaking on the “Al-Muhayid” program, broadcast on Al-Iraqiya channel this evening, al-Aboudi stated that restricting weapons to the state is an indication of the Iraqi government’s seriousness in fulfilling the requirements of Iraqi sovereignty.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Aboudi added that the government will deal with those who refuse to restrict weapons to the state according to the law. He clarified that the issue of restricting weapons to the state is a matter of Iraqi sovereignty and is not subject to external dictates.
He continued that Iraq was almost isolated due to the issue of restricting weapons, and the government’s decisions are aimed at sparing Iraqis further repercussions. Al-Aboudi explained that the Prime Minister is giving special attention to the air defense file and has established the procedural and financial framework for implementing its requirements.
He noted that Saudi Arabia has renewed its invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Riyadh. Additionally, al-Aboudi confirmed that the Council of Ministers has not made a decision to remove zeros from the currency.
