Israel: A military confrontation with Turkey has become “very likely,” according to Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs, Amichai Shekli of the Likud party. On Thursday, Shekli emphasized the increased risk of a military clash due to rising political and security tensions between Israel and Turkey, exacerbated by developments in military cooperation between Ankara and Washington.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Shekli expressed concern during an interview with the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (Kan), highlighting the seriousness with which Tel Aviv views recent statements from Turkish officials. He pointed to the rhetoric as a sign of deteriorating relations, emphasizing the gravity of remarks made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who described Israel as a “burden on humanity.”

Shekli’s comments come at a time when Turkey and the United States are engaged in discussions over Turkey’s potential purchase of American F-35 fighter jets. This development adds another layer of complexity to the already tense relationship between Israel and Turkey, raising questions about future regional stability.
