Hebron:Early Saturday morning, the Israeli occupation army initiated a comprehensive military operation in the West Bank, targeting 24 cities and villages. Key locations affected include the governorates of Hebron, Nablus, Tubas, Jenin, Bethlehem, Jericho, and the town of Burqin.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incursion into Hebron led to the army ordering residents in several neighborhoods to evacuate their homes. This directive followed the expansion of military operations and the deployment of reinforcements around the city’s entrances. Specifically, residents of the “Al-Jalda” and “Ain Deir Bahha” neighborhoods were instructed via loudspeakers to vacate their areas.
On Friday morning, Israeli forces had surrounded a home in the “Al-Jalda” neighborhood, linked to an individual involved in the Hebron operation. Faced with the military’s designation of three exit routes, dozens of families began fleeing to neighboring areas.
In response, the Hebron Municipality has opened a former kindergarten in the “Ain Sarah” area as a temporary shelter. Additionally, local families have offered their private community halls, known as diwans, to accommodate displaced individuals.
The Israeli army’s operations extended to the towns of Sa’ir and Beit Ummar, where searches and arrests took place. Among those arrested were Nabil al-Natsheh, head of the al-Natsheh family council, and lawyer Abdul Karim Farrah, a former Hebron Municipal Council member.
These operations followed the deaths of Staff Sergeant Ron Jonathan Ruetman and Sergeant Yuval Shay Swilam of the 775th “Ari” Battalion, with three others injured in an attack at the “Yehuda” junction near Hebron. In response, the army announced a security cordon around Hebron and Halhul and established numerous checkpoints, indicating an escalation in military activities.
