Baghdad: Preliminary results from the manual recount of ballots for the 23rd session of the Iraqi Journalists’ Syndicate elections, which began Friday evening and continued until Saturday morning, show fierce competition among candidates for membership in the Oversight and Disciplinary Committees.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, for the Oversight Committee, Kadhim Taklif received 580 votes, Ziad Tariq Harb received 474 votes, and Samira Jiyad received 377 votes. In the contest for the Disciplinary Committee, Firas Ghadhban emerged with 619 votes, Hanaa Jabbar secured 432 votes, and Karim Kalash garnered 304 votes.
