Baghdad: Judge Zeidan discusses with the US Charg© d’Affaires support for the state’s weapons control program. The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Dr. Faiq Zaidan, received the new Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, Steven Fagin, on Monday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Supreme Judicial Council indicated that the meeting addressed the judiciary’s role in supporting the government’s efforts to implement the program to restrict weapons to the state. This initiative follows a well-considered plan adopted by the Coordination Framework through a committee formed under it. The committee is tasked with preparing and announcing the plan upon its completion and at the appropriate time.
The meeting underscores Iraq’s commitment to fostering positive relations with the international community and ensuring the implementation of constitutional and legal provisions. The collaboration between the judiciary and the government reflects a strategic effort to maintain state control over weapons and enhance national security.
