Justice Minister Calls for Integration of Kurdistan Plan into National Human Rights Strategy


Baghdad: The Minister of Justice emphasizes the importance of including the Kurdistan Plan within the federal government’s national plan in the field of human rights. Justice Minister Khalid Shawani reiterated the necessity of integrating the Kurdistan Region’s plan into the broader national human rights strategy during a meeting with Dindar Zebari, head of the Office of the Coordinator for International Recommendations in the Kurdistan Regional Government, and his delegation at the ministry building.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry released a statement highlighting the discussions that took place during the meeting, which focused on enhancing cooperation and joint coordination in the domain of human rights. Minister Shawani underscored the significance of the collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Coordinator for International Recommendations in the regional government, emphasizing its role in supporting the preparation of national human rights reports and bolstering Iraq’s presence in international forums.



Shawani conveyed that incorporating the Kurdistan Region’s human rights plan into the federal government’s national plan would serve to unify national efforts in human rights, improve Iraq’s image on the international stage, and facilitate the implementation of pertinent international recommendations. Dindar Zebari, in turn, expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Justice, lauding the efforts of the Human Rights Department and its ongoing partnership with the Office of the Coordinator for International Recommendations in the preparation of human rights reports and the strengthening of joint efforts in this area.
