Karbala: The Karbala Criminal Court has issued a fifteen-year prison sentence to an ISIS terrorist who planned an attack on pilgrims during the Arba’een commemoration of Imam Hussein in 2026.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the convicted individual actively promoted the ideology of ISIS via social media platforms and coordinated with other terrorists to execute attacks in the holy provinces of Karbala and Najaf.

The judicial statement detailed that the sentence was handed down based on Article 4/1 of the Counter-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005. It was further supported by Articles 2/1, 2, 3, and 7 of the same law and in accordance with Article 132/2 of the Penal Code.
