Kirkuk: Kirkuk International Airport announced the opening of a new international route to Cairo. Airport Director Ahmed al-Kubaisi stated that Kirkuk International Airport will launch a new international destination as part of its efforts to expand its network and enhance air connectivity, commencing direct flights between Kirkuk and Cairo starting October 4, 2026.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Kubaisi explained that adding this destination aims to provide direct travel options for passengers and strengthen air traffic between Kirkuk and the Arab Republic of Egypt, following the existing Kirkuk routes operated by the national carrier, which include Ankara, Istanbul, Trabzon, Antalya, Baku, Delhi, Amman, and Beirut.
