Baghdad: A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has arrived in Baghdad to participate in the budget preparation process. The high-level delegation is set to engage in a series of meetings with senior officials across several federal ministries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the KRG stated in a press release that the delegation includes the Ministers of Finance, Economy, and Natural Resources, along with other key officials such as the Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Council of Ministers. Their agenda includes initial discussions with the Federal Ministry of Finance, followed by meetings with the Ministries of Planning and Oil.

The primary aim of the visit is to ensure the KRG’s direct involvement in drafting the 2027 federal budget law. The delegation is focused on securing the Kurdistan Region’s financial share and entitlements within the draft law, as outlined by the Iraqi Constitution.

The KRG delegation plans to present its vision and demands concerning various financial matters, including the entitlements of salary recipients, staffing levels, job grades, investment project allocations, regional development, and operational budget allocations, especially in the oil sector.

The delegation is committed to reaching understandings and agreements with the federal government to secure the region’s rights and entitlements in the 2027 budget.
