Kuwaiti Interior Minister Announces Reopening of Al-Abdali Border Crossing


Safwan: Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, confirmed that the Al-Abdali border crossing will be reopened within the next 48 hours. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani at the Safwan border crossing.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sabah emphasized the strong relationship between Iraq and Kuwait, describing it as one rooted in brotherhood. He assured that both countries would not permit any actions that could undermine their relationship. Al-Sabah also mentioned that his visit to the Safwan border crossing would not be the last, as he plans to make repeated visits to Basra Governorate.



Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani highlighted the purpose of the meeting, which was to enhance security cooperation between the two nations. He relayed a message from Iraq’s Prime Minister, Ali Al-Zubaidi, to all Gulf states, indicating Iraq’s commitment to strengthening peace and security in the region. Al-Eidani also noted that the governments of Iraq and Kuwait are working together to promote regional stability and foster stronger bonds of brotherhood and affection between their peoples.
