Maysan: A large-scale security campaign has been initiated in Maysan to pursue wanted individuals. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior recently addressed a video circulating online regarding the Iraqi-Syrian border. The Ministry firmly denied the video’s authenticity, which purportedly showed a group of Syrians crossing a security barrier on the Iraqi-Syrian border strip. The Ministry clarified that the information accompanying the video is incorrect and unfounded.

The Ministry further explained that the video was not filmed on the Iraqi-Syrian border. It stated that the concrete wall visible in the footage belongs to fortifications on the border of another country, unrelated to the Iraqi border. The Ministry assured that the Iraqi-Syrian border remains secure, with robust security stability maintained through a comprehensive system that includes fortifications, security barriers, technical monitoring, thermal cameras, and continuous deployment of Border Guard Command units and field patrols.

In light of the situation, the Ministry urged media outlets, bloggers, and social media users to exercise caution and refrain from sharing outdated or misattributed videos. Such actions, it stated, mislead public opinion and propagate false information. The Ministry reaffirmed that Iraq’s borders are secure and protected, with forces diligently performing their duties to maintain the country’s security and sovereignty, preventing any infiltration or violation of international borders.
