Kirkuk Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Mahdi Taqi, affirmed that the Peshmerga will not return to Kirkuk.

He said in a statement, “the people of Kirkuk should not listen to the fifth column that promotes the creation of discord among the components of the province by broadcasting news about the return of the Peshmerga to Kirkuk, and this is not correct,” pointing out that “there is no return of the Peshmerga to Kirkuk, nor a return to the first square and security. Kirkuk is a federal one, and there is no force other than the federal forces in the province.

He added, “what the joint operations are conducting in some areas is security coordination in order to bridge the gaps that exist between the security forces and the Peshmerga on the borders separating them.”
