Baghdad: The Military Intelligence Directorate announced on Friday the arrest of 13 drug dealers and traffickers, including two women, in various areas of Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directorate detailed in a press release that the operation was part of a broader framework of joint intelligence and security cooperation. Coordinated efforts with security agencies operating under the Baghdad Operations Command led to the arrests. The Intelligence and Security Department of the Baghdad Operations Command provided precise intelligence information that enabled joint detachments, with the participation of Military Intelligence personnel, to establish surprise checkpoints throughout Baghdad.

The statement elaborated that these operations culminated in the apprehension of 13 individuals involved in drug-related activities, including the seizure of narcotics found in their possession. The directorate confirmed that all necessary legal actions were taken against those arrested. The individuals have been handed over to the competent authorities to complete investigative procedures and to refer them to the judiciary for appropriate legal proceedings.
