Baghdad: The Minister of Agriculture, Abdul Rahim Jassim Al-Shammari, chaired a pivotal meeting today, focusing on the indicators of the proposed winter agricultural plan for the 2026-2027 season. The meeting included the Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs, the Ministry’s advisor, and several specialists in the agricultural field. The discussion aimed to develop a comprehensive vision for the upcoming season, utilizing data and indicators sourced from irrigation resources.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting also delved into initial indicators concerning the agricultural areas and crops outlined in the plan. These discussions were aligned with available water resources, setting the stage for further deliberations with the Ministry of Water Resources. This aligns with the framework of the joint standing committee established between the two ministries.

During the session, Minister Al-Shammari underscored the necessity of formulating a balanced approach to the winter plan. The goal is to secure early approval, allowing farmers adequate preparation time for the season with a well-defined strategy.
