Baghdad: The Minister of Communications, Mustafa Sand, has mandated a significant 40% reduction in internet service prices for all government departments. This directive is aimed at optimizing operational costs while ensuring that current bandwidth levels are maintained.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Sand announced in a press release that the ministry has been tasked with reducing the cost of internet services provided to government sectors by 40%. The directive underscores the importance of maintaining existing bandwidth levels even as prices are reduced, ensuring that the quality of internet service remains unaffected.

In addition to the price reduction for government departments, Sand has instructed an increase in internet speeds by 40% for towers that serve citizens in areas without fiber optic cable service. This change will not affect current pricing, meaning customers will enjoy faster internet speeds without any increase in cost. Sand emphasized that internet service providers must comply with the ministry’s policy, which involves offering two package options for tower subscriptions and four for fiber optic subscriptions.

These measures are set to be ratified in the upcoming Advisory Board meeting scheduled for next Monday, as confirmed by Minister Sand.
