Basra: The Minister of Communications, Mustafa Sand, has directed the implementation of an FTTH network in the staff housing complex of the Southern Technical University in Basra.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the university’s media office issued a press release stating that Minister Sand met with Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, President of the Southern Technical University. During their discussions, they addressed several matters aimed at enhancing services for university staff, focusing particularly on improving telecommunications and internet services.
The statement noted that Minister Sand emphasized the importance of providing modern and stable internet and telecommunications services to the faculty and staff. Consequently, he instructed the Iraqi National Company, a partner of the Ministry of Communications, to deploy a fiber optic network (FTTH) in the staff housing complex on the technical campus.
Additionally, the Minister mandated that the project be overseen by the Basra Communications Directorate staff. This supervision will ensure that the project adheres to the Ministry of Communications’ technical specifications and procedures, thereby delivering high-quality telecommunications and internet services that align with technological progress and meet the needs of the university staff.
