Minister of Culture Reviews Publications on Al-Mutanabbi Street


Baghdad: Acting Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Sarwa Abdul Wahid, visited the offices of the General Cultural Affairs House and the General Union of Writers and Authors in Iraq on Al-Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad on Friday. She reviewed the most prominent publications and titles offered by the two institutions to readers.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the minister was received by the Director General of the General Cultural Affairs House, Dr. Arif Al-Saadi, and the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Cultural Affairs, Omar Al-Sarai, who is also the Secretary General of the General Union of Writers and Authors in Iraq. They accompanied her on her tour of the two offices and provided explanations about the most prominent recent publications and diverse titles, highlighting the diversity of literary, intellectual, and cultural works in the publishing sector.



During the tour, Abdul Wahid examined a collection of books, publications, and new releases, emphasizing the importance of supporting the publishing industry and books, and strengthening the presence of cultural institutions in the Iraqi landscape. This, she noted, contributes to consolidating culture and knowledge and encouraging readers to acquire books.



She praised the diverse cultural output of the two outlets, emphasizing the importance of continuing to produce publications that meet the interests of Iraqi readers and keep pace with literary, intellectual, and cultural developments.
