Minister of Health Arrives in Karbala to Oversee Ashura Pilgrimage Health Plan


Karbala: Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, has arrived in the holy Karbala Governorate to oversee the implementation of the health plan for the Ashura pilgrimage. His visit aims to ensure the readiness of health facilities during the peak period of the pilgrimage, which is expected to attract one million visitors.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister began his visit with an inspection of the Safir Al-Imam Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) Specialized Surgical Hospital. He was accompanied by Sabah Al-Moussawi, Director General of the Karbala Health Department, and Dr. Majid Al-Mayali, Assistant Director General. During the visit, the Minister was updated on the hospital’s progress and the medical services available to visitors and patients.



The Minister received a detailed briefing from the hospital administration about the preparations undertaken to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. He commended the hospital staff for their efforts and the high level of services provided, emphasizing that the health services offered during the pilgrimage reflect well on national health work.



The Minister further highlighted the need for intensified efforts and improved coordination among health sectors to deliver optimal services to visitors. He stressed the importance of maintaining maximum preparedness and ensuring immediate responses to any emergencies, given the pilgrimage has reached its peak.
