Baghdad: The Ministerial Council for the Economy has made a pivotal decision to implement the Product Protection Law on factories in the Kurdistan Region that are not licensed by the General Directorate of Industrial Development. This decision was taken during the 31st session of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein. The session was held at the Council's building and included the presence of several key officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, as well as the Ministers of Finance, Trade, Agriculture, Industry, Labor, and Social Affairs, alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq and other prominent advisors.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the session also hosted the General Coordinator of the High Commission for Coordination among the Provinces and the governors of Baghdad, Basra, Kirkuk, and Wasit. These officials gathered to discuss both the service and economic conditions within their respective provinces. The governors presented detailed plans and projects aimed at generating non-oil revenues to support local budgets, which is seen as a step towards enhancing services for citizens.
The Council explored the efficient utilization of large state lands, considering strategic projects or distribution to eligible groups once the necessary infrastructure is in place. Governors are now set to play a crucial role in preparing the state's general budget, ensuring it includes provisions to improve services and streamline administrative processes.
Moreover, a recommendation was submitted to the Council of Ministers to approve a project that involves contracting with a specialized company for the transportation of state employees. This initiative aims to provide public transportation for ministry employees, thereby creating employment opportunities, reducing government expenditure, and ensuring social and legal protections for workers. The project also proposes offering loans to the unemployed for vehicle purchases to enable participation in the initiative.
