Ministries Deliberate on Wildlife Protection Law Instructions


Baghdad: The Director General of the Animal Resources Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Walid Mohammed Razouqi, chaired a pivotal meeting aimed at preparing instructions concerning Article (7) of the Wildlife Protection Law No. (17) of (2010). Representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Environment were present.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee, formed under Diwani Order (260769), discussed draft instructions and exchanged opinions and observations focused on enhancing the protection of wild animals and birds. The discussions aimed to reduce violations and practices that threaten wildlife. The meeting emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant government agencies and the need for a comprehensive approach that incorporates scientific, environmental, legal, and security perspectives.



The committee aims to prepare comprehensive instructions that balance regulating hunting with protecting wildlife, thereby supporting biodiversity and preserving the country’s natural resources. The collaboration across ministries underscores a commitment to safeguarding Iraq’s ecological heritage.
