Baghdad: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, through its Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs/Occupational Health and Safety Division, has organized its second blood donation campaign of the year. The event took place on Tuesday at the Ishtar Hall in the Ministry building, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health/National Blood Transfusion Center, under the slogan “Muharram… The Month of Giving and Humanity.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Ali Redha Abdul Hamoud, Director General of the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, highlighted that the campaign is in line with the Ministry’s commitment to promoting social responsibility and fostering a culture of blood donation. This initiative plays a crucial role in saving patients’ lives and fulfilling healthcare institutions’ needs for blood units. He reiterated the Ministry’s ongoing support for humanitarian initiatives that strengthen values of solidarity, giving, and community service.
Engineer Ahmed Kadhim, Director of the Occupational Health and Safety Division, stated that the campaign is part of the division’s efforts to implement humanitarian initiatives. It reflects the Ministry’s dedication to supporting patients and encouraging volunteerism and social responsibility.
The campaign saw significant participation from ministry employees and aimed to support patients suffering from chronic anemia (thalassemia), leukemia, and hemolytic anemia in newborns. This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to aiding healthcare institutions, contributing to saving lives, and promoting a culture of volunteerism and humanitarian giving.
