Baghdad: The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the movement of military units will not be affected by the locations of voters during the electoral process scheduled for October 11. Brigadier General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, Director of the Media and Moral Guidance Department at the Ministry, told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that the Ministry has prepared special workshops and conducted a simulation of the special voting day, focusing on voter participation, the use of electronic fingerprints and biometric cards, as well as updating the database of personnel involved in the voting process.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Khafaji added that the Ministry’s plan is based on “high flexibility in the movement and transfer of military units to ensure that the largest number of voters can reach polling centers in Baghdad and the provinces,” noting that some units will remain in their positions in accordance with the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and in coordination with the Minister of Defense.
Regarding the possibility of imposing a curfew on election day, Al-Khafaji clarified that “no decision has been made so far to impose a curfew or restrict the movement of citizens and vehicles.” He stressed that “the main task of the Ministry of Defense is to guarantee the smooth access of voters to polling stations and secure their protection,” affirming that the security forces possess the necessary expertise and capabilities to handle this important national event.
