Baghdad: The Ministry of Education announced the adoption of guidelines for the new academic year and the activation of parent councils.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Public, Private, and Foreign Education, has directed school administrations in Baghdad and the provinces to implement a series of educational and organizational measures in preparation for the 2026-2027 academic year. These measures include the implementation of educational methods based on respect, the prohibition of physical and psychological punishment, the effective preparation of lessons, the efficient use of educational resources, the development of students' abilities, the filling of vacancies, the proper organization of school records and assignments, the monitoring of health and environmental conditions, the activation of school committees and activities, the verification of students' ages according to regulations, and the prohibition of mobile phones equipped with cameras in schools.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of activating parent-teacher councils in primary and secondary schools. It has mandated holding at least two general assembly meetings during the academic year to strengthen the partnership between families and schools. This initiative aims to unify efforts in monitoring student affairs and supporting the educational process.
