Ministry of Education Introduces New Examination Mechanism for Students with Disabilities

Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has announced a new mechanism aimed at simplifying the medical examination procedures for students with disabilities and special needs. This initiative seeks to reduce the frequency of annual reviews throughout the students’ academic journey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the General Directorate of Public, Private, and Foreign Education revealed that the revised mechanism involves conducting medical examinations at critical educational milestones. These examinations will take place upon a student’s admission to the first grade of primary school and subsequently only in the sixth grade of primary school, the third grade of intermediate school, and the sixth grade of secondary school. The results from these examinations will be applicable for the remaining grades within each educational stage.

The Ministry emphasized that examinations will only be repeated if a new health condition emerges that requires evaluation. This change is intended to ease the burden of frequent medical reviews on both students and their families.
