Baghdad: The Ministry of Environment, represented by the Technical Department, held a consultative meeting with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to explore ways to enhance joint cooperation in sustainable land management. The meeting aimed to advance efforts in preserving natural resources and improving the quality of life for citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the executive plan for the national strategy for sustainable land management. This strategy includes initiatives to combat desertification and emphasizes the importance of conducting field visits to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of proposed projects. The meeting also underscored the significance of collaboration with agricultural associations to achieve integration between the concerned parties.

The Technical Department highlighted the necessity of developing technical cadres through specialized training programs. It also proposed the establishment of an electronic platform to facilitate communication and coordination processes. These initiatives are part of the joint efforts between Iraq and the FAO to achieve sustainable development goals, enhance food security, and preserve the environment.
