Ministry of Finance Halts Transfer of Provincial Contracts to Ministry of Oil

Baghdad: The Ministry of Finance has announced the suspension of the transfer of provincial contracts to the Ministry of Oil. This decision was communicated through an official letter which highlighted the directive from the Minister to excuse provincial council officials from their contracts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this directive is in line with Article (66/Second) of the Federal General Budget Law No. (13) for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2025. The decision stems from the absence of a need for the services of these officials and the Ministry’s inability to provide suitable positions for them due to their large numbers.

This move indicates a significant shift in the handling of provincial contracts and reflects the Ministry’s strategy to manage resources more efficiently. The implications of this suspension are yet to be fully understood, but it marks a notable change in the administration of provincial contracts within Iraq.
