Frankfurt: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is enhancing its consular services in Europe with an additional national identity card system in Frankfurt.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the enhancement of its consular services in Europe with an additional system for issuing the national identity card in Frankfurt. A ministry statement indicated that an additional system for issuing the unified national identity card has been opened at the Iraqi Consulate General in Frankfurt.

The statement added, “The opening of this system is the result of direct and continuous coordination between the relevant departments in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, and close follow-up by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of enhancing the consulate’s operational capacity and responding to the increased demand for services related to issuing the unified national identity card.”

It continued, “This step represents a significant leap forward in the development of consular work, as it will contribute to increasing the consulate’s capacity, expediting the processing of citizens’ transactions, reducing waiting times, minimizing the backlog of applications and appointments, and alleviating the burdens borne by citizens in accessing services and completing their transactions.”

He explained, “This step is of particular importance, given that the unified national identity card system at the Iraqi Consulate General in Frankfurt now covers all Iraqi citizens across the European Union. This will broaden access to this service and enhance the consulate’s ability to meet the needs of Iraqi citizens abroad.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its continued commitment to taking measures to overcome obstacles and improve consular services by strengthening coordination with relevant government agencies and utilizing available resources to provide more efficient and faster services to Iraqi citizens abroad.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to continuously improving the level and performance of consular services, reflecting the government’s concern for Iraqi citizens wherever they may be and strengthening communication between them and state institutions.
