Baghdad: The Ministry of Health has provided clarification regarding the case of Hussein Adnan, a child from Wasit Governorate, emphasizing the family's refusal to comply with medical procedures.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry has been actively monitoring the medical condition of Hussein Adnan, along with two other cases, since the outset. The Ministry confirmed that necessary medical procedures have been initiated, with two cases currently under treatment in hospitals located in Baghdad and Karbala.

In a statement, the Ministry explained that they had received Hussein and his family, assigning him a ward in a Baghdad hospital to facilitate examinations and additional medical procedures. This included the potential for medical evacuation outside Iraq, should it be recommended by specialized medical committees. However, the child's father and accompanying family members declined hospital admission and examination by the committees. Instead, they demanded a payment of five million dinars, which falls outside legal regulations.

The Ministry stressed that all medical treatment and evacuation procedures outside Iraq are solely determined by specialized medical committees, following legal protocols. It reaffirmed its commitment to welcoming patients from all governorates without requiring mediation or fundraising efforts that deviate from official channels.
