Ministry of Interior Highlights Role in Safeguarding Iraq’s Sovereignty


Baghdad:According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior emphasized the importance of sovereignty in protecting borders, citizens, and upholding the law. Colonel Mohammed Ali al-Hassoun, the official spokesperson, stated that sovereignty entails ensuring Iraq’s security and stability, safeguarding its borders and territory, and enforcing the law to uphold state authority and societal safety.



The Ministry of Interior implements this concept through its responsibilities in maintaining internal security, protecting citizens and property, combating crime and terrorism, and securing borders and vital facilities. It also focuses on responding to incidents and enhancing community security.



The Ministry is expanding its vision beyond security to improve services for citizens by utilizing modern technologies and developing electronic systems. This approach aims to simplify procedures, improve response times, and enhance performance quality, thus strengthening the connection between the security institution and the public.



The Ministry remains committed to protecting citizens, consolidating security and stability, and safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty. It continues to implement security plans to combat crime and protect citizens, property, and vital facilities, emphasizing professionalism and responsibility.



Additionally, the Ministry is advancing digital transformation and facilitating transaction processes to be more effective and accessible to citizens. It operates on two integrated tracks: ensuring security to preserve stability and providing services that meet citizens’ needs, reflecting its role as an active national ministry serving Iraq and its people.
