Nasiriyah: The Ministry of Justice has announced the issuance of 1,692 electronic bracelets for inmates at Nasiriyah Central Prison. These devices are intended to regulate financial transactions within correctional institutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Justice has completed the first phase of its electronic bracelet project. This initiative involves the distribution of electronic bracelets linked to payment cards, designed to streamline financial transactions within correctional facilities. The project was implemented in collaboration with the Iraqi Agricultural Bank, marking a step towards enhancing digital transformation and electronic payment systems in these institutions.

The Ministry reported that the new system would facilitate buying and selling transactions within prison canteens, ensuring secure and accurate financial dealings. The initiative aims to document all purchases with their actual values, thereby preventing price manipulation and enhancing oversight and transparency. This measure is intended to guarantee the rights of inmates in their daily financial activities.

The Ministry of Justice also revealed plans for the next phase, which will involve issuing an additional 2,606 electronic bracelets. This will ensure that all inmates at Nasiriyah Central Prison are integrated into the electronic system, setting the stage for expanding this system to other correctional facilities as part of a broader modernization plan.

The Ministry has urged families of inmates to visit Iraqi Agricultural Bank branches in Baghdad and other provinces to complete procedures for issuing payment cards linked to the electronic bracelets. They emphasized the importance of adhering to the established procedures to ensure efficient operations, facilitate deposits and purchases, and enhance transparency in financial transactions within correctional facilities.
