Baghdad: The Ministry of Justice has announced the commencement of a sewing training course for 20 female inmates as part of its ongoing reform initiatives. This program is a component of the Ministry’s broader rehabilitation efforts designed to equip inmates with essential skills for their reintegration into society post-incarceration.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry revealed that the Juvenile Rehabilitation School for Women has initiated the sewing course, aligning with the Ministry of Justice’s policy to implement rehabilitation programs within the prison sections of the Iraqi Correctional and Juvenile Reform Departments. This initiative is aimed at providing female inmates with professional skills that will be crucial for their societal reintegration upon completing their sentences.

The Ministry further emphasized its commitment to expanding vocational training and rehabilitation programs within correctional facilities. This effort is part of a larger strategy to transform these facilities into environments that foster capacity-building among inmates, enabling them to pursue life paths that reduce the likelihood of recidivism.
