Baghdad: The Ministry of Planning discussed with the World Bank the development of government contracting and the enhancement of work on the electronic platform. The meeting was led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative Affairs, Hana Ibrahim Ismail, and included participation from the World Bank Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Dr. Majid Al-Bayya, along with several officials from the Government Contracts Department and representatives from the Supreme Audit Office.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s efforts to automate contracting procedures through the electronic platform approved by the Council of Ministers were reviewed during the meeting. This platform is designed to cover all stages of contracting, from announcing tenders to concluding and archiving contracts, aiming to establish a comprehensive and transparent electronic system that ensures the documentation and classification of contracting companies’ data.

The meeting also highlighted several future projects proposed by the World Bank, including the MAPS project. This initiative aims to analyze and evaluate the performance of executed and ongoing contracts, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and develop the contracting system to achieve better outcomes in the future. The meeting was attended by Thamer Awad Al-Saeedi, Director General of the Government Contracts Department.
