Baghdad: The Ministry of Trade has categorically denied reports about the presence of “poisoned wheat” in the stock of the General Company for Grain Trade or in the wheat supplied by farmers.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry confirmed that all received grain quantities undergo precise laboratory testing during the stages of receipt, storage, and processing. These tests are conducted by a specialized technical team from the Quality Control and Inspection Departments, under the direct supervision of the relevant regulatory authorities.
The statement emphasized that spreading such claims without relying on scientific evidence or official technical reports constitutes misleading information to the public and undermines the efforts of national personnel working to ensure the country’s food security.
The ministry called on media outlets to verify information carefully and rely on official sources before publishing content that could damage the reputation of state institutions and shake public confidence in the safety of national food.
The ministry reiterated that grain stocks at all sites are safe, sound, and meet approved standards, and confirmed its ongoing cooperation with regulatory authorities to ensure the highest levels of quality and safety across all operational stages.
