Diwaniyah: The Ministry of Water Resources continues its work to combat water hyacinth and clean drainage canals in Diwaniyah and Muthanna. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Water Resources has been actively engaged in efforts to tackle the spread of water hyacinth and maintain the cleanliness of drainage canals in the governorates of Diwaniyah and Muthanna.

The ministry released a statement highlighting these initiatives, which are being carried out under the directives of the Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna al-Tamimi. The Iraqi General Company for Irrigation Projects is at the forefront of these operations, focusing on the removal of water hyacinth from the Diwaniyah and Shamiyah canals. This undertaking is supported by the equipment and expertise of the Irrigation and Drainage Projects Maintenance Department in Diwaniyah Governorate.

The statement further explained that the primary objectives of these efforts are to control the proliferation of water hyacinth and mitigate its adverse effects, thereby enhancing water flow and preserving the functionality of the irrigation system. In addition to activities in Diwaniyah, the staff of the Irrigation and Drainage Projects Maintenance Department in Muthanna Governorate are diligently working to clear the eastern Rumaytha drain of harmful plants and weeds. This initiative is also aimed at improving water flow and ensuring the efficiency of the drainage system.
