Missiles Strike Aden Airport Amid Escalating Tensions

Aden:Two missiles struck Aden International Airport in southern Yemen, as reported on Friday evening. The Saudi-led military coalition also intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at Yanbu in western Saudi Arabia.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Aden Security Department attributed the airport attack to the Houthis, marking the second incident at the facility in less than a week. Despite these accusations, the Houthis have not claimed responsibility, and no casualties were reported. The missiles hit the airport as a Yemenia Airways aircraft was preparing for takeoff to Cairo.

The Riyadh-led coalition confirmed the destruction of two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and three drones in the southern region and the Riyadh area, alongside intercepting the ballistic missile targeting Yanbu. Yanbu is a critical oil hub for Saudi Arabia, facilitating crude exports via the Red Sea.

On Saturday, Saudi Civil Defense issued an early warning for Abha, near the Yemeni border, but declared the danger had passed. Earlier warnings were also issued for Jazan and Khamis Mushait, following strikes reported by Houthi-affiliated media east of Saada in northwestern Yemen. The coalition stated it had destroyed two ballistic missile launchers in that area.

These developments raise concerns over the conflict’s potential impact on energy markets, with Brent crude reaching $110 per barrel on Friday, a level not seen since May.
