Baghdad: The Interior Ministry announced on Friday the successful dismantling of four criminal networks engaged in human trafficking activities in Baghdad, which includes an international network. According to Iraqi News Agency, the ministry revealed that this significant security operation was executed under the directives of Interior Ministry Senior Undersecretary Hussein Al-Awadi. The operation was a testament to the effective collaboration between intelligence efforts and judicial authority, supervised by the Deputy Director of the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency. It involved close coordination with the First Karkh Investigation Court, leading to a substantial offensive against three notorious criminal networks. These networks were involved in human trafficking, including an international syndicate focused on human organ trafficking and the illegal sale of kidneys, exploiting victims in the process. The operation was the result of thorough intelligence work, intensive field monitoring, an d surveillance, all based on verified intelligence and judicial approvals. This culminated in simultaneous security operations that led to the apprehension of several members of these networks and the confiscation of evidence confirming their involvement in criminal activities. The directorate, as per the statement, emphasized that all suspects have been handed over to the competent judiciary for legal proceedings. It reiterated its commitment to relentlessly pursue organized crime networks, disrupt their operations, and take firm action against those who violate human dignity or exploit the vulnerable, aiming to ensure community security and uphold the rule of law.
