Kufa: Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, emphasized the importance of Prophet Muhammad as a model of morals and virtues during a speech at the Al-Nour Festival. The speech, delivered on his behalf at the Kufa Mosque during the Festival of Light, conveyed al-Sadr’s views on the Prophet’s role in exemplifying and perfecting noble character.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr’s speech began with an invocation of divine blessings and a congratulatory message on the birth of three significant Islamic figures: Muhammad, al-Sadiq, and al-Sadr. He highlighted the unique moral stature attributed to Muhammad in the Quran, noting that such a description is unparalleled among other prophets in any holy scripture. Al-Sadr pointed out that Muhammad’s mission was rooted in the foundation of morality, emphasizing that the Prophet was sent to perfect noble character.

Al-Sadr stressed that Muhammad’s moral path provides a direct and straightforward route to achieving moral perfection. He referenced Quranic verses and sayings of the Prophet to underline Muhammad as an exemplary figure in morality, underscoring the importance of emulating his character. Despite facing significant adversity, Muhammad’s steadfastness and moral integrity remained unwavering, serving as a beacon for his followers.

Further, al-Sadr mentioned the appointment of Ali as Muhammad’s successor, highlighting Ali’s alignment with truth and morality. He underscored the importance of spreading and perfecting moral virtues within the Islamic community. The speech concluded with a tribute to the light and legacy of Muhammad, Ali, and their descendants, calling upon the faithful to embrace the moral teachings exemplified by these figures.
