Najaf: The Friday prayer leader of Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qubanchi, expressed strong support for the recently established memorandum of understanding concerning the state’s exclusive control over weapons.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Qubanchi, during his political sermon at Friday prayers, highlighted the importance of the memorandum, which is founded on four pivotal pillars. These pillars include asserting Iraq’s sovereignty over its land and airspace, eliminating internal and external security threats, encompassing all non-governmental entities in the weapons monopoly, including the Turkish presence in northern Iraq and the Peshmerga, and acknowledging the necessity of time, as the project is not achievable instantly and may require several years.

He emphasized his endorsement of the memorandum’s pillars, considering it the optimal solution to the critical issue of weapons monopoly. On domestic issues, al-Qubanchi also welcomed the Prime Minister’s “One Million Plots of Land” initiative. He expressed hope that this initiative would be implemented according to legal frameworks, aiming to address the housing crisis and provide opportunities for marriage and family for millions of young people.

Additionally, al-Qubanchi called for a boost in cultural development at the Baghdad International Book Fair. He urged the use of modern mechanisms, including books, stories, theater, content creation, journalism, television, and radio, to foster cultural growth.
