National Approach Bloc Demands Strategic Solutions for Traffic Crisis

Basra: The National Approach parliamentary bloc has urged the development of strategic solutions to address the ongoing traffic accident crisis, particularly during significant events like the Arba'een pilgrimage.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the bloc issued a statement highlighting the persistent issue of traffic accidents in Iraq, exacerbated by inadequate oversight, accountability for reckless and intoxicated drivers, and the deteriorating condition of roads and main streets. These factors have contributed to a continuous loss of lives across the nation, with no strategic solutions in sight.

The statement expressed condolences to the families of victims involved in a recent tragic accident in the Al-Haritha district of Basra Governorate, where nine citizens lost their lives and twelve others were injured. The bloc called on authorities to hold accountable those responsible for such incidents with firmness and severity.

Furthermore, the bloc emphasized the need for strategic solutions to mitigate the traffic accident crisis, particularly during the Arba'een pilgrimage. This includes improving road conditions, developing infrastructure, and enforcing stricter oversight and accountability for drivers who violate traffic regulations, aiming to protect citizens' lives and prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.
