Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi and NATO Mission Commander in Iraq, Lieutenant General Ramon Armada, have reached an agreement to establish a NATO mission office in Baghdad. During a video conference held on Sunday, the two officials deliberated on regional tensions and discussed ways to address recurring crises through dialogue and diplomacy. They also explored continued NATO support for the Iraqi armed forces in consultation, training, and information sharing.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisor's media office released a statement highlighting the outcomes of the video conference. It emphasized the agreement to open a NATO mission office in Baghdad and noted the discussions on NATO's role in advising, training, and building military capabilities in Iraq. The statement also mentioned the focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and strategic partnerships with NATO countries.

Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi's policy was also underscored in the statement, emphasizing openness to development and investment with friendly nations and supporting initiatives that strengthen mutual relations. Lieutenant General Armada reiterated NATO's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces, aligning support with the priorities of the Iraqi government.
