Baghdad: National Security Service detachments in Baghdad dismantled a drug trafficking network, arresting its six members and seizing approximately 3.5 kg of marijuana from one of their warehouses. The operation followed an intelligence and field effort that began with information about a marijuana dealer, which led the detachments to the network’s extensions and its warehouse.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, after obtaining judicial approval from the relevant judge in Baghdad, the first suspect was tracked and a well-planned ambush resulted in his arrest. Following this, the network’s threads began to unravel gradually, and investigations and field evidence led to the remaining members.
The detachments carried out a series of tracking and raid operations, arresting the suspects one by one, before the final lead led to a hidden marijuana warehouse inside an abandoned house, which was raided and the stored quantity seized. The suspects and seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them.
