Erbil: President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, discussed the latest developments in Syria. The Kurdistan Region Presidency stated in a press release last night that the two sides also discussed the latest field and political developments in Syria, the Kurdish issue in Syria, and the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nechirvan Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s support for a peaceful resolution to the problems, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue between the parties and protecting the rights of all components of Syrian society, including the Kurdish people, within the framework of a unified Syria.
For his part, Mazloum Abdi provided an overview of the situation in the region and the talks with Damascus and international parties, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for the continued role of the Kurdistan Region President, Nechirvan Barzani, and the region in supporting the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people and their efforts to de-escalate tensions.
In another part of the meeting, the dangers of terrorism and ISIS movements in the region were discussed. Both sides agreed that coordination among the parties and support for the international coalition against terrorism are essential for protecting the security of the region in general.
