Sulaymaniyah: Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani announced on Thursday the imminent unification of all forces in the region under the Ministry of Peshmerga, noting that negotiations regarding the formation of the regional government are progressing well.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Barzani spoke at a press conference in Sulaymaniyah on the sidelines of the city’s economic summit. He stated, “We will soon hold a ceremony to mark the unification of all forces under the Ministry of Peshmerga, and we will officially announce this.”

Addressing the issue of forming the regional government, Barzani mentioned, “I cannot specify a date for the government’s formation, but I can say that productive meetings have taken place so far between the Prime Minister and his deputy, as well as between the political bureaus of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).”

He further added, “I am pleased with the improved atmosphere currently prevailing among the political forces in the Kurdistan Region, as well as between the PUK and the KDP, and we hope this will lead to a positive outcome.”
