Kathmandu: Nepal’s disaster management authorities announced on Sunday that at least 734 people have died in Nepal following a devastating flash flood that swept through the border region between the Himalayan country and China on Wednesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, China confirmed today that 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries are missing on the Chinese side of the Tibetan border crossing with Nepal following a landslide that swept through the Himalayan region, while the death toll in Tibet has risen to 16.

Chinese officials confirmed at a press conference that the largest number of missing foreigners are from Nepal, totaling 104, while 49 Indians, 33 Latvians, 18 Americans, and 15 Britons remain missing. They stated that authorities in Beijing have informed foreign diplomatic missions of the situation.
