Baghdad: The General Cultural Affairs House, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, has released a significant new publication as part of its “Theatrical Studies” series. The book, titled “The Philosophy of School Theater – A Theatrical Study” by Dr. Iyad Kadhim Al-Salami, offers an in-depth exploration of the essential role of school theater in education and spans 244 pages.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the book delves into the concept of school theater as a vital educational and social tool, moving beyond the perception of it as a mere recreational activity. Dr. Al-Salami begins by examining the intersection of education and philosophy, aiming to merge theoretical concepts with practical applications within school settings.

The author underscores school theater’s significance as an independent educational domain, emphasizing the creation of theatrical texts that resonate with children. He advocates for preparing future writers capable of addressing student issues in a language marked by both simplicity and depth.

The book is organized into five comprehensive chapters, discussing topics such as the philosophy of art education, the goals of school theater, the educational role of play, the integration of school theater in modern education, and various techniques used in school theater.
