Nine Arrested in Istanbul Security Operation Targeting ISIS

Istanbul: Turkish authorities arrested nine people during a security operation targeting the ISIS terrorist organization in Istanbul. Security sources revealed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks associated with the group.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Counter-Terrorism Branch of the Istanbul Security Directorate initiated investigations to uncover funding sources linked to ISIS and to apprehend those involved. The investigations led to the identification of suspects’ identities and addresses, believed to be connected to conflict zones.

The detainees are suspected of making financial transfers to individuals involved in legal proceedings due to their ties with ISIS and other religiously motivated terrorist groups. This information was corroborated by financial account activity reported by the Turkish Financial Crimes Investigation Board.

Based on the gathered intelligence, security teams conducted a simultaneous operation targeting specific addresses. This coordinated effort resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, who have been taken to the Security Directorate headquarters for further legal procedures.
