Nineveh Provincial Council Clarifies Validity of Land Distribution and Construction Decisions

Mosul: The head of the Nineveh Provincial Council, Ahmed al-Hasoud, asserted that the council's decisions on land distribution and construction within the Nineveh Plain are legally valid and effective from the date of their approval. He clarified that these lands belong to the Mosul Municipality and fall under its jurisdiction, therefore not being subject to Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hasoud stated that despite various interpretations circulating, the lands of the Nineveh Plain are not included under Article 140. He emphasized that there are no legal barriers preventing the execution of the council's decisions regarding these lands.

He detailed those relevant authorities will begin implementing procedures in line with the legal framework, ensuring the Provincial Council's dedication to protecting citizens' rights while moving forward with their plans. Al-Hasoud urged the public to rely on official statements and warned against being misled by inaccurate information.
