Baghdad:Al-Muthanna The National Authority for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Regulatory Control in Al-Muthanna Governorate has confirmed that the village of Al-Sayyid Jaafar is free from radiological contamination.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faris Abbas, the Director of the Authority’s branch in Al-Muthanna, stated that a technical team conducted a field radiological survey in cooperation with the Al-Muthanna Directorate of Environment. The survey was initiated to address concerns raised by residents about potential radiological contamination following reports of health issues.
The survey involved taking radiological measurements using field equipment in several homes and surrounding areas in the village, as well as measuring background radiation and testing for radon gas concentrations in indoor air with specialized devices. The results showed no radiological contamination in the residential homes surveyed, highlighting the importance of technical procedures in verifying radiological indicators and addressing community concerns with empirical field data.
The Authority’s branch continues to conduct radiological surveys in areas of concern, coordinating with relevant entities as part of its regulatory efforts to protect people and the environment and verify radiological indicators.
