Babylon: An officer was wounded during a pursuit of a drug dealer west of Hillah, the capital of Babil Governorate, early Monday morning. Babil Police Media Director, Colonel Ammar al-Shammari, stated that the incident occurred in the Abu Ara’is area of the Abi Gharq district.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Colonel al-Shammari reported that a captain was shot twice, in the chest and leg, while pursuing the suspect. Despite the injuries sustained by the officer, the police successfully apprehended the drug dealer involved in the chase.

The wounded officer was promptly transferred to Hillah Surgical Hospital for medical treatment. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug-related activities in the region.
