Amara: A number of employees and staff of oil companies held a protest this evening in front of the Maysan Oil Company headquarters in Amarah, objecting to the decision to deduct bonuses from their monthly salaries. They emphasized their commitment to their financial rights and their rejection of any measures that infringe upon their entitlements.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the protesters raised banners expressing their rejection of the deduction decision, demanding that the relevant authorities reconsider it and ensure the full disbursement of bonuses, considering them an essential part of their job benefits.
They stressed that the nature of their work in the oil fields and facilities involves occupational and health risks, exposing them to potential illnesses and injuries due to harsh working conditions.
Several participants in the sit-in pointed out that the incentives represent compensation for the exceptional effort and risks associated with working in the oil sector, calling for fairness and the preservation of their constitutional and legal rights.
